It was Friday Fun-day last January 19 at The Coach Academy in Al Muneera Gym, when the team behind The Souqpinoy Slimdown Challenge met with Dubai’s famed bloggers, dubbed as The Viral Ball: The Souqpinoy Slimdown Challenge Press Launch. There was food, fun games, questions, and answers, meet and greet, but one thing that resonated that afternoon, Filipinos rally behind each other for a worthy cause – to uplift the well-being and good health of the expats here in Dubai.

Mariz del Rio and Anthony Sigua, both from Juan Dubai

Mariz del Rio and Anthony Sigua, both from JuanDubai, hosted the event while Maricel Espinosa from Souqpinoy facilitated the team games. It was an entertaining afternoon as the fun games commenced where both the Souqpinoy Slimdown Challenge Team and the guests from the social media teams took part in. Meant to be a kick off of sorts for what is to come — challenges and meal plans for the actual challengers — the guests formed groups and participated in a fitness relay. Everyone was so participative and gave their best shot at every exercise task. It was followed by a sit-down game of hunting the best and most nutritious foods ala-word hunt.

The teams battled it out during the fun games.

Both the guests and viewers via Facebook live raised questions and clarifications as Mariz and Anthony facilitated the portion. Issues about self-esteem and the psychological impacts the challenge will bring were clarified. Queries about age differences were raised. It was an informative afternoon as Coach Adam Nerpiol, Coach Tashia Altamia, fitness inspiration Darbie Estrebilla, all from The Coach Academy, together with Operations Manager for Souqpinoy.com Mr. Boyet Batarra, and The Medical Team Clinic Manager Nick Maranan filled the panel. Miss Jo-C Romulo of Tatak Pinoy sa UAE was also present and graced the occasion.

What capped the afternoon was fellowship over an abundant serving of sumptuous food served by great hearts behind Rio Broast Chicken Restaurant. Rio is located at Salahuddin Road near the Salahuddin Metro Station (Green Line).

With special thanks to all the bloggers, vloggers, and social media partners who came and made their presence felt. This is a good start for the Filipino expat community for 2018. Onwards to fitness and healthy living.
