UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, continuously works to meet the agenda of Education 2030. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is an ambitious, aspirational and universal agenda to wipe out poverty through sustainable development by 2030.

Nagsimula ito buhat nang in-adopt nito ang bagong Agenda noong September 2015, the international community recognized that education was essential for the success of all 17 of its goals. Ambitions for education are essentially captured in Sustainable Development Goal 4(1) which aims to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”.

Kabilang sa mga kasalukuyang nabebenepisyuhan nito ay ang Pilipinas. More young Filipinas now have a better chance at quality education and improved opportunities as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Department of Education (DepEd), and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) launch the “Better Life for Out-of-School Girls to Fight Against Poverty and Injustice in the Philippines” project on July 14 at the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) in Quezon City.(2) Ang mga napiling pilot locations ng proyekto ay ang Tacloban City at municipality of Palo sa probinsya ng Leyte.

Education in itself is an empowering right and one of the most powerful tools by which economically and socially marginalized children and adults can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully in society.

UNESCO supports States to establish solid national legal and policy frameworks that create the foundation and conditions for the delivery and sustainability of quality education. In turn, governments must be held accountable to fulfill their legal and political obligations to provide good quality education for all and to implement and monitor education policies and strategies more effectively.
