It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! At heto na nga ang mga nakakatuwa at may kurot sa puso na mga Christmas Station ID ng ABS-CBN at GMA-7, top two network stations in the Philippines. Both stations released the lyric video ahead of time, GMA on October 30 and ABS-CBN a day after. The lyric videos were released weeks ahead so that people can already have a go at singing along with the tune.
ABS-CBN incorporated social media into their station ID as they showed different social media posts, photo and video, of real love being shared through random acts of kindness. This timely element combined with their annual gift-giving activities, visits to various charitable organizations, outreach programs throughout the year, random video footages like rival volleyball team players hugging each other to a group of people pushing a car that broke down on the road, sign language performance from Philippine School from Deaf and a lot more, brings home their call to “just love.” And to acknowledge their presence all over the Philippines and around the world, nakiisa sa panawagang magmahal ang iba’t-ibang regional stations nila tulad ng Baguio, Davao at Cebu, kabilang rin ang international counterparts sa New York, Japan, Singapore at Dubai.
Isa rin sa highlights ng video ay ang pagpapakita ng mga kapulisan na gumagawa ng iba’t-ibang acts of love —mula sa pagbibigay ng pagkain at tubig sa pulubi to an actual feeding program manned by policemen. And one undeniable time stamp that this video was shot in 2017 is the focus on Marawi. The video started with a scene taken from a seeming relocation site, with a family huddled in the night, reminiscent of the Savior born in the manger. The Kapamilya stars each wrote a letter to the soldiers of Marawi and the soldiers happily received it. Heart-warming as well are the actual footages of soldiers rejoicing that the war is over and going home to their loved ones. Indeed, everything is possible if we will just love.
If last year, they shoot the majority of their video inside the confines of their studio, this year, GMA went all out in this year’s Christmas station ID. It showcased their Kapuso stars reaching out to people everywhere — from those who trended in social media to random commuters. They gave out mirienda to bus commuters, one group gave away fans to LRT patrons, and another even paid for the fare of the shuttle passengers. They themselves acted on their call na “Buong-Pusong Magmahalan” this Christmas. They sat down and ate with a waiter who is known for serving his customers for over 10 years, a durian vendor, and a tour guide in Cebu. They also featured footage from their annual Global Hand-washing Day and Give-A-Gift Foundation. A seemingly tall task was simplified in all possible acts of reaching out straight from the heart.
We are all one, kapuso ang kapamilya. All called to love and love with all our heart. Pagsasabuhay ng diwa ng Kapaskuhan. Sabay-sabay tayong umawit kasabay ng mga nakakaengganyong kanta nila habang isinasapuso natin ang mensahe na magmahal.
