If this is your first time visiting Dubai in the wintertime, you might have noticed how different the city is this season. To make the best out of your visit, Khaleej Times recommends.

1. Exploring Old Dubai

Take a break from the glitz of the city to explore its past. Take a ride on the ancient abras of Deira Creek, walk along the dhow docks and watch the birds fly over this historic neighborhood. Check out the Dubai Museum and Al Seef to learn everything about the city’s past and put your haggling skills to the ultimate test at the Spice Souq. And when the fun is done, relax by one of the numerous creekside cafes. It’s a whole day planned out!

2. Go Camping!

The winter weather in Dubai is ideal to go camping and embrace your inner adventurer. Although campsites within city limits are scarce, take the chance to plan a road trip and camp in stunning locations. Jebel Jais offers an amazing mountainscape and is always a few degrees cooler than the city. Birdwatchers should head to Umm-al-Quwain Beach, where you can spot flamingos and other wild birds during your fireside barbecue.

3. Visit the Gardens

If you seek a green oasis in the steel desert, visit the stunning gardens within city limits. Dubai Miracle Garden features thousands of flower species in amazing formations, while the Dubai Butterfly Garden offers a slice of nature with 15,000 species of butterflies flitting around. When it starts to get darker, head over to Dubai Garden Glow, where you’ll see an array of artistic light installations, animatronic dinosaurs and exquisite ice sculptures.

4. Go Global

No list about winter in Dubai would be complete without mentioning Global Village, a massive festival park celebrating the city’s multicultural people. Each pavilion represents a country, where you can shop for almost anything. It’s also foodie-friendly, with kiosks for street food from around the world. To top it all off, it offers live entertainment and an amusement park with games and rides.
